![]() I wouldn’t want steel tracks on a mini unless it was used a lot on concrete and rock surfaces. The closest rental place has had them for at least ten years+.įorgot to mention, the rubber tracks have been so much more forgiving. The only brand I’m curious about is TAKEUCHI. Have also used Bobcat, though not as much. I know you already mentioned your brand preferences but Cat’s new lineup is excellent. What else should I be asking myself before I buy something? It has a nice discounted price, but are steel tracks a mistake on a mini-ex? I found a Kubota U57 like we have rented before, but it was ordered with steel tracks instead of rubber by mistake. But that seems like a nice feature on trenchers we have used. What is your preference on front blades? Most of the ones we have rented don't angle or tilt. ![]() I prefer a Bobcat, a Kubota or a New Holland if we buy new, as those are the local dealers we prefer. We would like a 12,000 pound size, with a thumb and quick attach. We have a couple of 80,000 pound full size excavators, but we are going to sell one, as they are too big and unhandy for these jobs. We would use it to maintain several rural homes private water lines, installing hydrants, and cattle waterers, but primarily it will be used to tie in to mains for tile, and digging short runs for terrace tile outlets. I didn't realize how much we used one until I started paying $300 a pop several times a month to rent one. A buddy had one we borrowed a lot, and he retired and sold it.
